When it comes to jewelry, most people seem to think in terms of gold or silver–personally, I’m a big fan of unpolished brass (and copper, but that’s a metal for another day). Brass is casual, goes with everything, and is ever-so-slightly sophisticated in an urban way. This brass dachshund is my favorite necklace, a gift from Josh a couple of years ago and I’ve worn it nearly non-stop since then. Dog-themed necklaces (and everything else) may be big right now, but they definitely weren’t a trend when I got this necklace (does this mean I can take partial credit?) so it was a particularly exciting find. This gem is from Sarah Dobranowski’s S’Wag line, and despite the plethora of doggie motifs available this year, this little brass dachshund is still the cutest I’ve seen!
It seemed appropriate to introduce this playful necklace with an equally eclectic outfit, and what better to inspire whimsy than Haptic Labs’ kites? I’m a big fan of this color and pattern combo, and I can really picture someone fun and sporty wearing this outfit to go fly a kite–I definitely want to be her best friend, since she clearly has great taste, and kites are fun! I’m not much of a sneaker gal (you know I love my boots), but this pair might have me changing my mind.
